Fatherhood and Father’s Day
by admin on Jun.19, 2010, under funny

I think all fathers are familiar with this one.
I struggled a bit to find a humorous anecdote about a Father and his Son that remided me, justly, of mine. The following rung the bell in quite the right tone, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Letters between son and dad

Funny Public Service Annoucement
by admin on Apr.05, 2009, under Odd, Travel, funny
Traveling though the western states I heard a rather funny public service announcement which illustrates the downfalls of socialism and over regulation in my mind.
It went something like this (I apologize I couldn’t find the exact transcript) – If you see a turtle (some particular brand I can’t recall) crossing the road, please stop and help them. We know this is against the law… (Some law passed to “protect” this endangered/at risk species.) but if you do it will be inline with the “spirit” of the law and be ok.
I couldn’t stop laughing until I realized just how pathetic it was. I understand there are endangered/at risk species and I support the passing of the laws that protect them, we shouldn’t hunt them and do our best to respect their environment. Natural selection does play out though, save for humans.
Think about what this ad is urging us to do. Stop your vehicle abruptly in the road – illegal. Park on the side of a road – usually illegal, especially on highways. Run into the middle of the road – if not illegal, highly dangerous to you and others. Transport the critter – unsanitary at a minimum.
Public service announcements were created in the vein of serving the greater good of the people. WTF!?!?! How, why, who the hell thought this was a good idea. The more screwed up thing is the line of thinking that brought this whole series of laws/events into motion. People need to take responsibility and act accordingly as citizens, we don’t need out tax dollars and politicians time going into micromanaging our lives. Am I the only sane one or am I the nut-job here?
Man Marries Real Bitch to Lift a Curse?
by admin on Feb.08, 2009, under Odd, funny
It happened for real during a traditional hindu ceremony at a temple in the southerly state of Tamil Nadu. The groom in question was a 33-year-old Indian farmer named Selvakumar, and he was married to a female dog named Selvi. He wedded his four legged bitch to repent for stoning two other dogs to death and stringing them up in a tree fifteen years ago. He believed the act cursed him and he had been troubled ever since, he told the Hindustan Times. After he stoned the dogs he said his legs and hands got paralyzed, he lost hearing in one ear, and his speech was impaired.
With physicians unable to help him, Selvakumar turned to an astrologist who assured him he was cursed by the spirits of the dogs he had killed. He could unmake the curse exclusively if he married a dog and live with it, the soothsayer warned. Family members picked out a stray female dog who was then bathed and dressed for the wedding affair.
Selvi the bride was brought to the temple by village women and a Hindu priest directed the ceremony. The paper showed a picture of Selvakumar sitting next to his canine bride, which was adorned in an orange sari and flower garland.
The newspaper said the groom and his family then ingested a feast, while the dog got a roll. It was reported that Selvi attempted to make a dash for it — evidently due to the enormous crowds — but she was dogged down and returned to her brand-new ‘husband’.
“The dog is only for lifting the curse and after that, he plans to get a genuine bride,” a acquaintance of the groom said. Profoundly superstitious people in rural India sometimes coordinate weddings to dogs and other beasts, thinking it can beat certain curses.
