Exercise could ease insomnia

A recent study at Northwestern University found that regular aerobic exercise can improve sleep quality in adult insomnia symptomscs.
The research found that two 20-minute aerobic workouts done four times a week will improve sleep quality.
The 55 and older insomnia symptomscs who were tested reported greater vitality and fewer symptoms of depression with the workouts.
According to Dr. Phyllis Zee, director of the Sleep Disorders Center at Northwestern, even undiagnosed insomnia symptomscs can benefit from exercising more.
“There have been studies, including from our group, that demonstrate the positive effect of exercise and moderate physical activity on sleep quality,” Zee said.
“For those who are sleepless, regular exercise should be a priority.”
