George Noory Vs. Art Bell

I’m a bit of a talk radio connoisseur, as are many of us that travel cross country on a regular basis. I was introduced to talk radio some eight years ago now, and one of my first found favorites was Coast to Coast AM with Art Bell.
At the time Art was not actually the host but Ian Punnit. Not having heard Art I thought Ian was a fine host (and still do actually). Art returned and I found a certain magic that Ian was lacking (although slightly). Art could take an obvious imbecile or nut-job and live on the air and make the call not only tolerable but enjoyable, even believable when it clearly was not. Later on I got the impression that some of Art’s guests and callers were scripted – which you wouldn’t know if you hadn’t been listening for a substantial period of time.
Art then handed the show over to George Noory, who I did my best to give time and credence to, although always felt he just didn’t quite cut the mustard (not for lack of trying). My issue with George is that he suffers no fools, which frankly the supernatural, alien, Bigfoot, conspiracy circles are chock full of. Although I appreciate his earnest search for the truth, he almost always comes off as that empirical scientist who cuts and explanation short simply because it does not fall into conventional thinking.
I have always considered Coast to Coast to be an odyssey of the mind for my insomnia and other insomniacs. Although we all yearn to find the definitive proof of the above cornucopia of what are currently considered pseudo sciences, the fun at midnight is sorting out the riffraff and grifters.
My advice to George: Take a page from Art’s play book – listen, then respond in a way to intrigue the audience, instead of quashing all hopes at the first sign of shenanigans. Maybe even consider allowing a script every now and again (wink).

Hear Hear! George Noory is better than he was (although just slightly) but he talks over the guests, corrects them and mocks them. He is no Art Bell! Art Bell is such a pleasure to listen to….
Ian Punnit is good too–almost Art Bell good but not quite there. Art Bell is the unquestioned master.

George Noory bores me to tears. I’ve become used to a masterful interviewer who has objectivity, like Art Bell. George injects his snivveling little “beliefs” into everything the guest is trying to say. He interrupts them, he leads them to where he (George) wants to go, and absolutely cannot enunciate or pronounce words correctly.
One night I wanted to just throw something at the radio he infuriated me so much. Then, I just stopped listening. Now, I rarely listen, if at all — just when Art is going to be on or Ian is on, or even that other George.
Whoever told Noory he was a talk show host? Why did Art do this to us?
Was this his (Art’s) insurance to keep his place in history, knowing full well that Noory is just not capable enough? Mediocrity over the airwaves where superiority once came across is a real shame. Step down, George.

George Noory lacks the depth of Art, Ian, and the other George. Most interviews lose their thread with Noorys constantly interupting the guest to ask inane questions, often not on topic. He must have passed ‘Incredulas 101′ by the sound of his voice…..
Tip for Ian….I tend to count how many times you say ‘cool, way cool, etc.’

Here is a breaking news that George Noory and Art Bell were waiting for, in years. It is about the elusive story of life on earth. Check this out, the theory (discovery) is surprising and logical, never been heard before. The name of the website tells all: http://www.mysteryoflifesolved.com I hope it will get to the ears of the coast to coast team.

It is hard to listen to Noory when you’ve listened to Art for years. Art would let the crazies tell their stories and go along with it, prodding them along and getting good fun radio out of them. Only on the wackiest would you hear amusement in Art Bell’s voice. It was a fun radio program. Noory tries to make it real and cuts off and challenges the wackies, but it sucks all the fun out of the show and makes it unlistenable.
I wish that I had an archive of the old Coast to Coast from the 90′s to listen on my iPod, those shows are timeless and there must be hundreds of thousands of hours out there.
