I was d iscovered by Hollywood on Tuesday. Well, by a Hollywood security guard, but I wa s inches from fame; I could just feel it.

I received a tip that a production company was f ilming a movie at the Taylor Northeast Little League ball field on Wick near Mon roe.

Being a good reporter, I fluffed my hair, touched up my makeup and just as I was adding my third layer of mascara, my boss told me to get over there.

The s et wasn't hard to find. There were all types of box trucks and movie set-looki ng equipment all over the park, plus the signs that read “Base Camp, Crew Park ing, Extras Parking,” complete with directional arrows.

The movie is listed on the Internet Movie Database as “Home Run Derby,” but my “sources†tell me it might be renamed “Home Run Showdown.â€

Starring in the movie are:

院長 Cain of the TV show “Lois and Clark”; Jose Canseco, a Major League Baseball player; and Barry Bo stwick, who was in “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” as well as “Nancy Drew” and many others.

I say “sources” because, apparently, as we here in Michigan are finding out, when you know about a movie in town you keep quiet — as if t he mafia told you to. Nobody who knows anything about the film is allowed to tal 光

The first thing that happens when a movie comes to town is that people go int o top-secret Roswell-like, Area 51 mode.

The producers make everyone involved in the movie sign waivers saying something like they could be tarred and feathered as in the old days if they tell anyone anything about the movie. They probably wouldn't really be tarred and feathered, but it must be something horrible, be cause these people are tight-lipped.

On this particular film set, however, being out in the open on a baseball field, they couldn't stop us from watching.

Whi le there, I chatted up some teenagers — Samantha Stellini, Moriah Mooney and N icholas Mooney, all of Taylor — who were hanging out gawking, just like I was.

“We came up here because we heard they were filming today and we were going t o try and be in it,” Moriah said.

They almost were, too.

“We sat in the blea chers because we just thought they were ordinary bleachers, and then they starte d filming and we didn't even realize, so we possibly could be in the movie,” 她說。

Lucky. I should have tried that, too.

Karen Rector-Jones of Taylor an d her stepdaughter, Amerah Jones, 8, also were hoping to get some film time.

“ We saw the commotion and a friend of mine posted it on Facebook that they were f ilming a movie here,” Rector-Jones said. “Originally, everybody thought that Miley Cyrus was going to be here.”

I'd heard the Miley rumor, too, and I' m not going to lie — I would’ve tried for the fan photo with her. No, not fo r me, I have a young daughter — it would have been for her. Wink.

Most of the onlookers had only been there an hour or two before they were rewarded with a co uple of minutes of actual filming.

“We got to watch a scene where he was yelli ng at everybody to be quiet (but) they weren't saying anything,” Rector-Jone s said. “We'll know that in the movie when we see it.â

I'm told that was a tryout scene, determining which player goes to which team in the movie.

Accor ding to my secret sources, a couple of weeks ago two guys in a truck were sittin g in the ball field parking lot waiting to approach the Little League board abou t using the field and the clubhouse.

Of course, the board said yes. I wouldn't have said no to two guys in a truck who waited for me all day either. 呀。

我的 source said the production company scouted hundreds of fields, but liked this o ne because it was in the center of a subdivision surrounded by houses.

The club isn't getting paid, my source said, but they get to keep the improvements made to the field, such as a new dugout the film crew built.

Filming also is schedul ed in the clubhouse and the club garage.

According to IMBD, the movie is about t wo Little League teams that take on their coaches' sibling rivalry, and end up doing battle in a place the baseball world never expected it: in the outfield o f the Major League Baseball Home Run Derby.

My sources did tell me more about th e plotline, but I admit — I feel like I signed one of the darned waivers. I' m afraid to say too much.

I'm sure the movie people really are all very nice; they just don't show it. They need all of their happy, smiling faces for the cameras.
